  1. The BASIC Cruncher
  2. ------------------

  4. The purpose of the BASIC cruncher is to provide a
  5. simple method of squashing BASIC programs by the
  6. usual methods of shortening variable/procedure/
  7. function names, deleting blank lines, REMs and
  8. spaces and 'concatenating' lines (ie joining them
  9. together!).
  10.  
  11. The procedure to squash a BASIC program is then:
  12.  
  13. 1) Load the BASIC squasher if it is not already
  14.     loaded. It will appear on the icon bar.
  15. 2) Drag the BASIC file to the icon.
  16. 4) Amend the filename in the save window which
  17.     appears, drag the file to the destination
  18.     directory, or just click OK to overwrite the
  19.     original program.
  20. 5) Wait while the program is squashed. A listing
  21.     of the squashed program appears during the
  22.     process.

  26. The real thanks for this utility must go to Mike
  27. Harrison who wrote the BASIC squasher. This is
  28. present in the application directory - I just
  29. added command-line decoding to allow it to be
  30. called from another application. See the BASIC
  31. program 'BasCrunch' for more information on how
  32. the squasher works.

  34. This program has been placed into the public domain
  35. by Stuart Hickinbottom. It may be freely copied and
  36. distributed for non-profit making purposes (a small
  37. charge to cover cost of distribution is allowed,
  38. however), so long as the code is not altered (apart
  39. from customising !Run/!Boot files) and this text
